Eminem has been announced as the first rapper ever to solo host a concert at London's Wembley Arena. Not only will the show be the hip hop star's first in the English capitol in 13 years, it will be a unique one-off and therefore tickets are likely to be highly sought after.

The 'Just Lose It' singer is more accustomed to headlining UK festivals these days but has decided to grace London with his presence for one night on Friday 11th July. He explained that the show came about as a result of him being unable to play outdoors in London this summer.

"I heard that I wasn't going to be approved to play in Hyde Park and it made me even more excited to play in London this summer," he said. "The easiest way to get me to do something is to tell me I can't do it. Thanks to the Royal Parks for making it all possible..for Wembley," he said, via The Guardian.

The iconic Wembley Stadium may be better known for football but it has hosted a string of world conquering acts with a capacity of 90,000 fans. However, the rapper was allegedly in "advanced talks" to play a gig as part of the British Summer Time Series this July, which would mark his first time playing at Hyde Park.
It has been rumoured that Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, was barred from playing at the famous recreation area because Royal Parks organisation will only allow acts to perform there who are "fit for the Queen." A source speaking to the Mirror cites the hip-hop star's "controversial" lyrics as a probable deterrent to him playing at the open air event.

It was claimed that discussions are still ongoing and that an agreement could still be reached. It looks like the rapper's mind is made up though: he posted a Sex Pistols-style image to Instagram with the words "Never mind Hyde Park" to advertise his upcoming mega-concert at Wembley.
Unlike other huge gigs, there'll be no presale so you better make sure your internet connection is working when tickets for the Wembley show go on sale at 9am on Friday 9 May.
