Congratulations Emily Blunt and John Krasinski! The Looper actress (30) and the Office favorite (33) made a surprise announcement this week – Blunt is pregnant with the couple’s first child. The rep who confirmed the news to Us Weekly , offered no further details, perhaps because there really can’t be too many further details this early on.

The Devil Wears Prada actress is about to become a first time mom.

However, according to Us, the baby is due in “just a few short month,” which is good to know, but is also generally true of most human pregnancies. There are no medical professionals on this writing team though, so we stand corrected on that one. The actors have mentioned in separate interviews that they wanted to have children before. It was just a matter of timing, apparently. And with the kind of bond these two seem to share, a baby sounds like a lovely and welcome new development.

Congratulations to the happy and thoroughly prepared couple.

"I feel like everyone poo-poos actor relationships because they say they always end in divorce and tears," Blunt told The LA Times in April 2012. "But that's only because it's in the news and it's broadcast to the world. John and I can talk about everything, and it's nice, because we have a very deep understanding of what the other person does."

Krasinski has also mentioned wanting children, most recently on the Today show in a chat with Matt Lauer, during which the actor explained that he had already gotten a peek at fatherhood from seeing his male friends do it.

As some of his clothing choices might suggest, Krasinski is quite ready to be a dad.

At the time, he mentioned Matt Damon, whom the actor was working with on Promised Land. "We actually wrote with children climbing all over him, and he was doing bath time and dinner and everything, and we still got it done."

So it looks like the couple are pretty well prepared for the new addition to the family – or as much as first-time parents can be anyway.

It's a fairly safe bet that these two will produce gorgeous progeny.
