Sir Elton John is set to marry his partner David Furnish this weekend in England.

The pop legend’s representative confirmed to Us Magazine late on Wednesday that he and Furnish will take advantage of the UK’s recent legalisation of same-sex marriage, which officially became law in March this year.

The 67 year old has been in a civil partnership with 52 year old furnish since 2005, and their relationship together has lasted for 21 years. Together, they have two sons, Zachary (3) and Elijah (1), who will reportedly act as ring-bearers during the ceremony.

In an interview with Today soon after the legislation’s approval earlier this year, Sir Elton said: "We'll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children [there]. For this legislation to come through is joyous and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we're not going to bother to get married'. We will get married."

The couple are reported to have invited fifty of their close friends and family to their home in Windsor to see them exchange vows. A bit more low-key than the reputed 650 guests for their 2005 ceremony, that’s for sure. For celeb spotters, the guests are apparently to include the Beckhams, the Osbournes and actress Elizabeth Hurley.

It will cap a memorable week for Sir Elton, after it emerged on Monday that Watford F.C., an English soccer / football club, is to name a stand in his honour. As owner and chairman of the club, he oversaw a period of remarkable success from the mid ‘70s to the mid ‘80s.
