Sir Elton John doesn't want to write pop music anymore.
The 'Sacrifice' singer said he has no desire to compete with today's pop performers, and isn't seeking for his songs to appear on music television.
He told GQ Magazine : "Look, I'm 63, I don't want to be on VH1 or MTV. I'm not going to compete with JLS or Lady GaGa.
"I'm at that stage where I don't think I can write pop music anymore.
"I can't sit down and do a proper rock song. It was ok when I was 25 or 26, but not anymore. I like to do my little side-projects like Scissor Sisters and have fun, but I don't think Elton John will be putting any pop singles out."
Sir Elton presently holds the record for the world's best-selling single -a version of his song 'Candle in the Wind' which was re-recorded with altered lyrics after the passing of Britain's Princess Diana, and more than 33 million copies around the world in 1997.
Despite saying he can't compete with today's pop stars, Elton has confirmed he has recorded a duet with Lady Gaga, 'Hello Hello' which will be featured in the film 'Gnomeo and Juliet'.
Elton also hosted his annual Aids Foundation Winter Ball last night (31.10.10), raising some £600,000 for charity.
