Eddie Izzard: Being Gay Would Be Easier

Comedian Eddie Izzard wishes he was gay, because being a straight transvestite is harder to explain.

The cross-dressing funnyman has been attacked in the street by people who have wrongly assumed he's homosexual, and is sick of being misunderstood.

Eddie says, "What would be the point of pretending I'm straight when I'm actually gay and I have taken all this flak for wearing make-up?

"It would be wonderful to be gay, because there is such a big gay community.

"Straight transvestites are not out so much. Everyone has heard the story of the woman who finds her husband wearing her clothes and divorces him. That's my community."
