Ed Sheeran travelled five hours to perform 'Tenerife Sea' while Jake Roche proposed to Jesy Nelson.

The 24-year-old singer serenaded the couple with their favourite song while Jake popped the question on stage at Manchester Arena on Sunday (19.07.15), exactly one year after they first met.

Jake,22, wrote on Twitter: ''Travelled 5 hours to sing our favourite song on his day off. I will never ever be able to repay you. Love you pal. @edsheeran.''

Ed replied: ''@Jake_Rixton my absolute pleasure. Thanks for the KFC.''

Announcing the engagement, Jake posted a picture on Instagram and wrote: ''A year ago today I met her at manchester arena, so it was only right, with a little help from my friend, that this happened. Best day of my life.''

The image shows Jake on one knee as he holds out the ring to Jesy, 24,with Ed standing off to the side with a guitar and a microphone.

Jake recently joked that he couldn't afford to propose to Jesy.

He said: ''There are engagement reports but at the minute I can't afford a hot meal, let alone a ring!''

Ed and Jake are close after Ed asked Rixton to support him on his US tour.
