Ed Sheeran's friends are on the lookout for his next girlfriend.

The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker - who split from 24-year-old Athina Andrelos in February - apparently said he doesn't want to have a relationship with a ''famous'' girl and he wants someone who is ''down to earth'' and whom he can enjoy doing ''normal'' things with.

A source told Mirror Celeb on the Mirror.co.uk website: ''Ed doesn't want a famous girlfriend, he just wants someone down to earth and normal to share his life with,'' the source said. His friends are looking out for him and don't want him to be with anyone who just wants to be with him because he's famous.''

According to the source, his friends weren't fans of Athina - who previously dated ex Kids In Glass Houses rocker Aled Phillips - and they weren't ''disappointed'' the relationship ended.

The source added: ''Ed's mates weren't too keen on Athina and weren't disappointed when they split after the BRIT Awards. It's very unlikely they'll be getting back together. His friends want to set him up with a new girl and have their eye on a few people they've mentioned to him but he's very picky for obvious reasons.''
