Ed Sheeran is ''hilarious'' when he's drunk.

British hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks - who are friends with the 'Lego House' hitmaker - have said he likes to have ''rap battles'' when he's out drinking.

They told Entertainment Wise: ''One hundred percent, he's so funny. He's f***ing hilarious.

''He's loud, larey, rap battles with anything, anyone ... He sometimes loses the idea of what personal space is as well, he'll be right up in your face.''

However, the pair insisted Ed knows how to enjoy himself and stay respectful, claiming he is more laid back when it comes to women.

They added: ''He's a nice guy. Sometimes women are apprehensive if men approach them without really saying anything but Ed is hardly threatening is he?

''He's just a nice ginger chappy who plays lovely love songs on an acoustic guitar. You're not gonna be like 'f**k off mate.'''

The 22-year-old singer recently admitted he struggles with the idea of being a ''sex symbol'', instead thinking most women would rather take care of him than flirt.

He previously said: ''I find the whole concept of women screaming at me so odd. It's very flattering, but I don't think I will ever consider myself to be a sex symbol.

''If you speak to most women, they want to take me home and mother me rather than take me to bed. I just have that impression.''
