Ed Sheeran fans had a minor internet meltdown on Monday after a photo appeared on Instagram, showing the singer wearing a ring on his wedding finger. Fans immediately began to speculate that the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer had married his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, who he recently celebrated his one year anniversary with.

On Instagram musician Jovel posted a photo of Sheeran posing with his daughter captioned: “My baby girl’s 5th birthday party was lit! Even both godparents were in attendance finally lol.” But fans were more interested in the silver band Sheeran was wearing on his wedding finger.

One fan commented on the photo: “dude has a ring on his wedding finger then he's taken, official or not!” Another tried to calm fans down by adding: “it's just a ring everyone's going mental over nothing!”

The debate also moved to twitter with one fan tweeting: “100% wouldn't be surprised if Ed had gone off and gotten married tho.” Another added: “I need answers. Is Ed sheeran already married????? My poor heart.”

However one observant fan did point out that Ed has worn this ring before, tweeting: “It's the same ring he wore on his middle finger in Japan.. I don't get all the fuss about a stupid ring.” Ed has been dating Cherry Seaborn for a year now and the singer is currently enjoying a hiatus from the spotlight.

But according to reports 2017 is going to be the biggest year yet for the singer and it may include headlining Glastonbury. A source told The Sun earlier this month: “Ed has always wanted to do Glasto, it’s been a huge ambition. He’s one of the biggest artists in the world, and British, so bosses are desperate to book him.”
