The ‘San Andreas’ star is said to be in talks to take on Kurt Russell’s 1986 role.
After dominating the box office at the weekend with San Andreas, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is already eyeing his next big screen role which looks set to be in a remake of 80s cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China.
Johnson is currently riding high at the box office with San Andreas.
According to The Wrap, Johnson is already in talks to star in and produce the remake, which will be scripted by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The film will be produced by 20th Century Fox, who are yet to comment on the rumours.

Johnson would take on the role of truck driver Jack Burton in the remake, the part which was originally played by Kurt Russell. The Wrap reports that Johnson and his producing partners at Seven Bucks Productions pitched the remake to rights-owner Fox, as the film is one of the actor’s favourite movies.
Big Trouble in Little China failed to make much of an impact when it hit US cinemas in 1986, grossing just $11 million at the domestic box office. But the film went on to become a cult classic thanks to countless showings on cable television.

Right now Johnson is currently enjoying some major box office success, after disaster flick San Andreas scored a very impressive $54 million domestic opening weekend. Up next for the actor star is his first big TV role in HBO’s new original series 'Ballers'. He’s also set to star in Warner Bros.’ upcoming comic book movie Shazam, as well as lending his voice to Disney’s animated movie Moana.
