Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson is set to undergo surgery to repair a tear in his abdomen.
The Fast Five star suffered the injury during his fight against John Cena at WrestleMania earlier this month (07Apr13) and now he is preparing to go under the knife.
The day after losing the title match to Cena, he wrote in a post on Twitter.com, "In the middle of last night's Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & abductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job... Thank You for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me."
Johnson elected to put off an operation as he began training to shoot upcoming film Hercules: The Thracian Wars, but he struggled with the pain, later adding, "My dr's (doctors) said that starting back training w/ torn abdominals would be a b**ch. Just found out they were right... We gotta push thru."
However, over the weekend the star's symptoms worsened, prompting him to make an emergency doctor's appointment - on Sunday (21Apr13) he tweeted, "Saw my Dr who had to push my intestines back thru the tear in my abdomen. Kinda romantic. Surgery is next week."
The injury may explain Johnson's absence at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie Pain & Gain on Monday (22Apr13).
