Kanye West’s meeting with President-elect Donald Trump has caused quite a stir among a lot of people and even surprisingly some of his closest friends, including singer and songwriter John Legend.

Legend is one of Kanye’s closest allies - even singing his beautiful ballad, All Of Me, at the rapper’s wedding to Kim Kardashian West in 2013 - but even he found West’s visit to Trump Tower one step too far.

The singer called West’s meeting with the Republican President-to-be "disappointing" and called it a "publicity stunt".

He told French media outlet, Clique, Trump was "corrosive".

Legend, 37, who was mentored by West in the beginning of his career, said: "I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to [Trump] about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt.

"I think Trump has been corrosive, his message has been corrosive to the country.

"I think the things he has promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing."

Neither Trump nor West commented on what their meeting had been about but Trump said the pair had been friends for "many years".

Kanye later took to Twitter to explain their meeting and said they had spoken about issues including "bullying, supporting teachers, modernising curriculums and violence in Chicago."
