The Apprentice star, 69, made the big announcement during a press conference at Trump Tower in New York on Tuesday (16Jun15), revealing he will be seeking the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
He said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for President of the United States and we are going to make our country great again."
Trump previously expressed an interest in running for president in the 2012 election, but he ultimately decided against making an official move into politics.
He began exploring his options again in 2013 ahead of the 2016 election and will now face off against the likes of Senator Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Lindsay Graham and George W. Bush's brother Jeb Bush, who announced his candidacy on Monday (15Jun15), for the Republican nomination.
