Handwritten lyrics to David Bowie tune The Jean Genie are expected to fetch up to $23,250 (£15,000) when they go under the hammer in London this summer (13).
The 1972 scrawl, which is signed and dated by Bowie, is expected to fetch between $18,600 (Gbp12,000) and $23,200 (Gbp15,000) at the Bonhams Entertainment Memorabilia auction on 3 July (13).
The auction will also feature a number of other Bowie goods - a red Vox 12-string electric guitar the singer used while promoting his 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars is estimated to fetch at least $15,500 (£10,000), while a $18.60 (£12) contract he and his former guitarist John 'Hutch' Hutchinson signed to perform at London's Ealing College of Communication in 1969 is valued at a minimum of $1,860 (£1,200).
Other items going on the auction block at the auction include an acoustic guitar once owned by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, and a lock of Sir Mick Jagger's hair, which was saved by a relative of his former girlfriend, Jean Shrimpton, during the 1960s. The lock is thought to be worth at least $2,300 (£1,484).
Proceeds from the sale are set to be donated to the Changing Faces charity, which provides financial support to those with physical disfigurements.
