David Arquette is ''so proud'' of Patricia Arquette.
The 43-year-old actor says he and the rest of his family were ''completely impressed'' by his older sister's acceptance speech, which called for equal pay for women, when she won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Boyhood' at the Oscars last month.
The 'Scream' star told PEOPLE magazine: ''I was completely impressed. We're really just so proud of her. She did it like a trooper.''
Patricia was widely praised for her original speech, but attracted backlash for comments she made afterwards when she called on ''all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of colour that we've all fought for to fight for us now.''
The 46-year-old actress recently admitted she was surprised by the negative reaction she received.
She told Time magazine: ''It did surprise me. I guess I don't think people really understood what I meant by that. I don't think they understood what I was talking about, exactly. This is a huge discrimination issue affecting women across America. It affects whole lives - the impact of this.''
