Blonde actress Daryl Hannah's crippling agoraphobia has led to her being "practically blacklisted" in Hollywood.
The SPLASH star is fearful of going out in public and facing strangers because she is worried she will not live up to her fan's expectations of her - and consequently feels unable to promote her movies fully.
Daryl explains, "It's like I'm constantly on trial. I'm a quivering mess because I feel that people are judging whether I'm good enough, blonde enough, tall enough. Under those circumstances I fell I'm not anything enough. So I'm a disaster."
And Hannah claims unsympathetic moviemakers have shunned her services, as they do not want a star who cannot embrace the promotional bandwagon.
The KILL BILL star continues, "I've been practically blacklisted by studios because I wouldn't promote their films. I've always been a shy girl and didn't think I could appear in public without fainting or making a fool of myself.
"I even suck when I go to auditions for parts. I get really nervous in front of people. I go to the bathroom and come out with my skirt tucked into my underpants. I just freeze and shake. I can't speak and it looks like I can't read English. It's just pathetic."
Daryl has sought help from everyone from hypnotists to counsellors but has no idea where her problems even stems from.
She adds, "I don't even know what I'm afraid of. I lose my sense of self. I get fragmented and spacey and can't focus. But lately I've forced myself, so now I'm getting better. Now I can face people, at least in small numbers."
