Daniel Radcliffe has ruled himself out of making a return to the wizarding world announcing he will not be appearing in JK Rowling's new film series.
Sorry Harry Potter fans but Daniel Radcliff will not be appearing in JK Rowling's new film series based on the Hogwarts textbook 'Fantastic Beasts and Were To Find Them'.
The 24 year old recently spoke at a press conference (Sept 17th 2013) promoting the new Sky Arts series 'A Young Doctor's Notebook and Other Stories'. He confirmed that himself and his co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who play Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger, will most probably not appear in the upcoming film saga, which is set 70 years before the Potter franchise.
"I'm sure they're going to have a great time. I'm sure a lot of people will be really excited," said Radcliffe, "I, needless to say, won't be involved. I don't know if any of us [the original Potter cast] will be. I know nothing about it."
He also joked that his first thoughts were "Thanks Jo, I'm going to have to answer tons of questions about this now".
Warner Bros is extending its successful relationship with JK Rowling by giving the new film series the green light. The 48 year old will be making her screenplay writing debut, creating a new story from the mind-set of the man behind 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. The fictional author is called Newt Scamander and his adventures will be the focus of the first film in the upcoming series.
Rowling commented on the direction of the upcoming film series, "'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world".
The Harry Potter film franchise which ran from 2001 until 2011 become the highest grossing franchise in history, earning a total of $7,723,431,572 worldwide. Beating second place franchise 'James Bond' by nearly $1.5 billion.
Radcliffe has starred in several theatre productions such as 'The Criple of Irishmaan'
