Politics and celebrities are always a tricky mix, but Daniel Radcliffe had a particularly rough ride when he was a guest on Victoria Derbyshire’s BBC Two show. The actor denied previously endorsing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, but further questions about his political affiliations caused viewers to brand the interview ‘awkward’ and ‘uncomfortable’.

When asked if he'd backed Corbyn, Radcliffe said: "I didn't endorse anyone. It sounds terribly official. It's one of those things that as an actor you get asked. I do have political opinions but when they appear in print I don't like people thinking that I think my opinion is worth listening to."

“At the time I was excited [about Corbyn] but I haven't been paying as much attention as I feel like I should.” When asked if he would vote Labour at the next election if Corbyn was still leader, the actor paused before saying: “I mean, if it was a choice between that and the Conservatives, yes.

"But I don't know, to be honest. I would hope that I would educate myself a lot more between now and when that becomes a reality.” Viewers on twitter were quick to voice their support for the Harry Potter star, feeling the line of questioning had been unfair.

The questions had absolutely no relevance to his new film,’ while a different user chimed in: ‘I really like Daniel Radcliffe & this is blatantly unfair. I'm sure even he would say it's not his most informed opinion. Poor show to ask.’
