Dakota Johnson is taking her mother to the Oscars.

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star will now be accompanied by Melanie Griffith at the Academy Awards, which take place tomorrow (22.02.15) night in Hollywood, a representative for Dakota confirmed to USA Today.

The news comes just a day after it was reported that the 25-year-old actress had split from boyfriend Matthew Hitt.

She is believed to have ended her relationship with the 26-year-old musician in December after a few months of dating.

A source close to the star said: ''Sometime over the holidays, they broke up. Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn't something he wanted to be a part of. It wasn't a bad break.''

The brunette beauty hinted that her relationship had ended previously, when she was asked if her boyfriend liked the film, in which she stars as Anastasia Steele.

She said at the time: ''My hypothetical beloved thinks it's great. He's really supportive.

''I don't have a lot of time for a relationship. I'm too bustling sanctimonious and afterwards we go home and there's no one.''

The actress may struggle to find a new love though, after she recently revealed she is going through a ''phase'' where she hates more things about men than she likes.

She said: ''I think it's unsexy when a man chews with his mouth open or when a man is rude or wears fedoras. I hate fedoras.

''Oh God, I can find more things I hate about men than I like. I think it's just a phase!''
