Dakota Johnson has revealed her parents - Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson - discouraged her from following in their footsteps and going into acting when she was in high school.
Dakota Johnson's parents didn't want her to go into acting.
The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star has admitted that while she attended high school, her parents Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson - who are both actors themselves - were hoping their daughter wouldn't follow them into the industry.
When asked if they pressured her not to act, she said: ''When I was in high school, sort of, they wanted me to study. But I wasn't into it.''
The 25-year-old actress' dad was instrumental in bringing her up and she joked she had even learnt how to shoot a gun before her teenage years.
She said: ''I think before I was nine, he taught me how to ride a horse, a motorcycle, drive a car, shoot a gun.''
Dakota previously said she would never let her parents watch the erotic film in which she stars, but she has now had a slight change of heart.
She shared: ''I've been thinking about it more recently and I would love for them to see what I've been working on for the last year and a half.
''But I really just don't think it's appropriate ... I wouldn't want to see them do it though.''
The brunette beauty praised her co-star, Jamie Dornan, who always ''protected'' her on set.
Speaking on 'Live! with Kelly and Michael', Dakota said: ''It was a really closed set and a really protected environment. And Jamie was protective and he would throw blankets over me.
''He's incredible and really trustworthy and we goof around a lot and he makes me laugh so it works.''
