Cory Monteith, who stars as Finn Hudson in the comedy/musical/drama show Glee, has admitted himself into rehab voluntarily as he struggles to cope with his 'substance abuse' problems. This is not a first for the star though, as the actor, 30, was admitted into rehab for the same reason when he was 19 (revealed by the star in a 2011 interview).

Speaking with People Magazine, a rep for the Glee actor revealed that he "has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," with the rep adding that the TV star "graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

Meanwhile, Monteith's on-screen and real life girlfriend Lea Michelle also spoke to the US-based magazine about her boyfriend's current scenario, in which she explained that she is "proud" of her man for admitting his problems and seeking help for them, telling the magazine, 'I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this.'

The happy couple will hopefully be staying strong together during this difficult period.

Monteith has been vocal about his struggles with substance abuse in the past and in his 2011 interview on the subject he first offered insight into his battle with substance abuse in a bid to warn off others from potentially following in his path. It has been roughly one year since Monteith and Michelle began dating publicly, and despite their relationship ending recently on the show, the two are looking stronger than ever in reality.
