Picture: Colin Farrell on the film set of his new movie 'Dead Man Down' in Soho New York City, USA - 28.06.12
Actor Colin Farrell is in mourning following the death of his uncle.
The Phone Booth star's relative Tommy passed away in his native Dublin, Ireland late last week (begs16Jul12), prompting Farrell to axe a planned appearance on U.S. programme The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday (24Jul12) to be with his family.
He rescheduled the interview for Thursday (26Jul12) and explained to TV host Leno, "My uncle passed away last week... and I got permission from the school principal, aka your good self, and made it home for a couple days."
But, while the 36 year old remains distraught over the loss, Farrell is thankful he at least got the chance to say goodbye.
Fondly remembering their last meeting, he added, "I got to see him a few weeks before he died, I went home to Dublin about three weeks ago and he was in the hospice, so he wasn't in great shape...
"I brought him in a bottle of his favourite booze and he had his teeth out, so he looked like a hockey player. But we poured him a nice glass of Baileys (Irish Cream)... (and) that was the last time I saw him."
