Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are going on a ''spiritual and physical detox'' after the Christmas season.
The former couple - who split in March are currently in the process of getting divorced - are still friends and are reportedly planning to spend time at a Californian retreat in the New Year to rebalance their minds and bodies and maybe even reconcile.
A source said: ''They're headed to the We Care Spa in Palm Springs. Ever since Chris split with Jennifer Lawrence they've improved their relationship immensely and are the best of friends now. Chris has already decided he's cutting back on his work commitments and spending time away from Coldplay, so he can be with their kids more. And he's thinking perhaps a divorce could be bad news and it seems Gwyneth agrees so they're doing a spiritual and physical detox at this hardcore New Age retreat after Christmas.''
The retreat sees guests hand over all gadgets and live on a juice-only diet, visit sweat lodges and do chanting, and the former couple - who have two children, Apple and Moses, together - believe it could be just what they need to reassess their relationship.
The source added: ''Gwyneth and Chris have been on this retreat before and came out focused and full of energy to face the real world again. So going there is an attempt to reconnect, without the noise of day-to-day life. It sounds crazy, holding hands and chanting, but they hope it will re-energise the relationship.
''They're both hoping that a spiritually-bonding retreat will help them realise what they want from each other and from the next year.''
