German racing driver Sabine Schmitz and motoring journalist Chris Harris are reported to have joined the up with ex-Formula One star David Coulthard and Evans.
The new, revamped ‘Top Gear’, which will be presented by Chris Evans, is said to be in ‘turmoil’ after two behind-the-scenes’ exits. The show is also reported to have hired two unknown presenters to work alongside Evans, German racing driver Sabine Schmitz and motoring journalist Chris Harris, while ex-Formula One star David Coulthard is also said to have signed on, according to The Sun.
Chris Evans’ ‘Top Gear’ is said to be in ‘turmoil’.
The two new appointments come shortly after the news that executive producer Lisa Clark left the series earlier this week, having joined less than five months ago. Script editor Tom Ford will also not be returning at the end of his contract.
Clark, who has previously worked with Evans on ‘Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush’ and ‘The Big Breakfast’ was personally brought in by the presenter to lead Top Gear’s relaunch in May. Clark was the replacement for Andy Wilman, who followed former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to Amazon earlier this year.

In a statement following Clark’s departure the BBC said: “We’d like to thank Lisa for all her incredible work over the last five months readying new Top Gear for its busy filming schedule in 2016 and planned return in May.”
The show’s ‘turmoil’ is said to be over the hiring of Sabine Schmitz and Chris Harris to present alongside Evans, as both are virtual unknowns to the public. A 'Top Gear' insider told The Sun: "Sabine and Chris are virtually unknown to the wider public and David isn't the most charismatic driver.”

Schmitz is a 46-year-old professional German motor racing driver for BMW and Porsche, she previously appeared on 'Top Gear' in 2004, when she beat Clarkson in a race around the Nürburgring race track.
Last month Chris Evans confirmed that ‘Top Gear’ would be back on our screens on May 5th of next year and he also revealed that the team had already started making the films for the series. "We're going to America to make our first inter-continental in January [and we're] making another film next week," Evans said during an appearance on ‘Saturday Kitchen’. By the time we hit the air on May 5, we'll have 32 films in the can as they say."
