Chris Evans has admitted that, aside from in his role as Captain America, he won't be pursuing any more work as an actor as he wants to pursue a career as a director.
Chris Evans is planning to give up acting.
The 32-year-old actor - who is currently stars as the titular superhero in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' - has admitted that aside from his Marvel commitments which he is contractually bound to, he won't be taking on any more acting jobs.
He said: ''I've known for a while I wanted to direct. But [time] never really opens up. There's another movie to do, there's another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what - I have to do this.
''If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing. I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do.''
Despite claiming that he's no longer interested in acting, the 'Fantastic Four' star - who recently made his debut as a director on '1.30 Train' - has confessed that his roles in movies such as 'Captain America' have allowed him to pursue a career in directing.
He told Variety.com: ''Without these movies, I wouldn't be directing. They gave me enough overseas recognition to greenlight a movie. And if I'm speaking extremely candidly, it's going to continue to do that for as long as the Marvel contract runs.''
Evans, who admits he struggles with fame because he likes to do ''normal things'', confessed he could change his mind about ending his acting big-screen career in the future.
He added: ''For all I know, in five years, I might say, 'Shit, I miss acting.' Right now, I just want to get behind the camera and make movies.''
