R&b Star Chris Brown Has Jokingly Appealed To U.s. President Barack Obama To Intervene After Encountering Emigration Troubles In The Philippines.
The Loyal hitmaker was detained as he attempted to fly to Hong Kong after performing in Manila on Tuesday (21Jul15), and learned he had been prevented from leaving the country due to an allegation of fraud.
The accusation relates to a skipped concert in the Philippines on New Year's Eve (31Dec14), when the singer reportedly failed to show up for his set after accepting payment for the $1 million (£625,000) contract from bosses at the Maligaya Development Corp, who are demanding their money back.
The claim, which Brown insists was a "misunderstanding" between promoters, was enough to prompt officials from the Philippine Department of Justice to stop him from leaving their country, forcing him to postpone a show in Hong Kong until Thursday (23Jul15).
However, as WENN went to press, Brown was still stuck in south-east Asia, reportedly prompting him to delay the Hong Kong event once more.
Elaine Tan, a spokeswoman for the Philippines Immigration Bureau, reveals the singer's departure from Manila was being delayed while border officials consulted with representatives at the Justice Department, according to The Associated Press.
As Brown waited for his travel problems to be resolved, he took to Instagram.com and shared an expletive-laden video, in which he admitted to being confused by the whole controversy.
In the clip, which has since been deleted, he said, "Can somebody please tell me what the f**k is going on? I don't know, I'm reading headlines after headlines, what the f**k!"
On Thursday, he uploaded another short video, featuring Brown kneeling in prayer, saying, "Please, please, let us leave, please". He simply captioned that video "OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", an apparent attempt to reach out to the President for help.
Brown is next due onstage in Tel Aviv, Israel on Monday (27Jul15) after cancelling Saturday's (25Jul15) planned show in Jakarta, Indonesia due to "safety concerns".
