Chloe Moretz had ''never felt so alone'' as when she was filming 'Carrie'.
The 17-year-old star plays a social outcast who gets picked on by her schoolmates, culminating in a scene where the unleash a bucket of pig's blood over her at their prom, and at that moment the young actress truly knew what it meant to feel alone.
She explained to LOOK magazine: ''This film ['Carrie'] messes with your head a lot. Filming that scene at the prom, I could hear this hissing and I was like, 'Oh God, it's releasing,' and this huge torrent of blood pours over me, covering my face.
''It was all around me, and then the director cued the kids to laugh at me, and in that moment, I really became Carrie. I was so alone. I went back to my trailer at the end of the day, and just sat down and started crying. I'd never felt so alone in my entire life. It was terrifying being in that moment.''
Chloe received a lot of criticism when she was first cast as Carrie, but she has risen above it and believes it was all part of the challenge of taking on the role.
She added: ''I heard that a lot, 'You're not ugly enough, or 'You're not skinny enough for Carrie'. We judge a book by its cover too quickly. I'm not trying to be someone I'm not. I had to really grow up to do this part, I had to learn a lot.''
'Carrie' is in cinemas from November 29.
