Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has claimed Nadine Coyle held Girls Aloud to ''ransom'' and refused to make another album with them until she got a solo record deal and her behaviour ultimately led to their split in 2013.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has claimed Nadine Coyle is ''full of s**t'' for suggesting she didn't want Girls Aloud to split up.
The 'X Factor' judge was surprised when she saw her former bandmate take to Twitter to say ''you should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time and want to keep going'' in the wake of the band's break-up following their greatest hits tour in 2013.
Instead, Cheryl claims Nadine was responsible for the chain of events that led to the group's demise when she wanted to take time off to make a solo album in 2009.
Addressing Nadine's comments in the new issue of Attitude magazine, Cheryl said: ''She's full of s**t. What do you want us to say? She's full of s**t. She was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus.
''She wants to come out and say we broke the band up? No! She shouldn't tell porkie pies. She should remember why we took the hiatus after seven years...''
Cheryl, 31, claims Nadine, 29, actually refused to record another Girls Aloud album until she got the opportunity to make a solo album, and effectively held her and the other band members - Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh - to ''ransom''.
Cheryl said: ''OK, so do you want us to tell the truth? She wasn't going to make another Girls Aloud record until she got a solo deal. I feel she held us to ransom and then made her solo record deal.
''It's the truth. She's saying that we broke the band up. So there you go.''
Cheryl has enjoyed a successful solo career away from Girls Aloud releasing four albums - '3 Words', 'Messy Little Raindrops', 'A Million Lights' and 'Only Human' - while Nadine's one solo LP 'Insatiable' bombed.
