The television network has decided to pull the plug on Chelsea Handler's talk show, four months before her contract expires.
E! will not let Chelsea Handler see out the rest of her current contract.
The talk show host's final episode of 'Chelsea Lately' will air this coming August, four months before her contract ends, but the network will honor Handler with a "month-long" celebration, including "special episodes" and "surprise guests."
It was only this past March that news surfaced of the 37 year-old comedienne's desire to quit her hosting duties, which she has been performing since 2007.
At the time her agent, Irving Azoff, said: "Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas."
Handler doesn't seem to be leaving the network too happy as she has criticised E! at any chance she gets.
"They don't know what they're doing" she said on Howard Stern's radio show, adding, "They have no ideas. It's a failure."
But in an official statement, the 'This Means War' actress' tone was dramatically different as she called her time at E! "fantastic."
"I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years," her statement read on Wednesday (May 28th). "I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I'm glad I went."

"Chelsea brought a distinct voice to late night with her acerbic wit and fearless commentary and we look forward to providing fans with a memorable send-off that lives up to that tradition. Most of all, we are grateful to the Chelsea Lately team for making this show so special for seven years."
