Charlie Hunnam is reportedly in talks with Silver Pictures and Studio Canal to take on the lead role of Snake Plissken in an upcoming remake of 'Escape From New York'.
Charlie Hunnam could be set to star in an 'Escape From New York' remake.
The 'Sons of Anarchy' actor - who dropped out of the upcoming 'Fifty Shades of Grey' film due to scheduling issues - is rumoured to be in talks with Silver Pictures to take on the lead role in film.
However, the sequel to his 2013 film 'Pacific Rim' could mean Silver Pictures and Studio Canal have to find another suitable star as although ''Hunnam is currently the top contender'', ''it is unclear if his commitments to Pacific Rim 2 will leave the actor unavailable''.
'The Walking Dead' star Jon Bernthal and The Guests' Dan Stevens are also being considered for the role of Snake Plissken, who was portrayed by Kurt Russell in the 1981 original, according to Starlog.
It's also been reported that the character will be ''more team based'' in the remake, ''as Snake Plissken traverses through a treacherous New York landscape with a rogues gallery of criminals who look to leave the island-turned-prison in exchange for the rescue of the captured U.S. President''.
In addition to possible scheduling issues due to his involvement in 'Pacific Rim 2', Hunnam is also said to have recently entered the running for Guy Ritcie's King Arthur film, meaning Bernthal and Stevens may be in with a better chance of securing the part.
