Charli XCX had ''a nightmare'' when she tried to wax her bikini line for the first time.

The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker has confessed she had little knowledge about hair removal when she decided to shave her legs, pluck her eyebrows and wax her bikini line and was left bleeding and confused during the process.

She said: ''I've never plucked my eyebrows. My mother never taught me anything. The first time I shaved my legs I pressed the razor in so hard that I started bleeding, and the first time I did a home wax on my bikini line, it was a nightmare. I had no idea what I was doing.''

The brunette beauty, 22, also opened up about her fashion icons and credits singer Mariah Carey, actress Drew Barrymore and Spice Girl Emma Bunton's iconic 90s looks with influencing her style.

She explained to Miss Vogue magazine: ''Nineties Mariah Carey is a fashion icon. Or Drew Barrymore when she had a short crop and daisies in her hair. She's kind of my girl crush, although I hate that term.

''Baby Spice was my favourite. I wanted to dye my hair blonde and in my mind she was my best friend.''
