The woman accusing Cee Lo Green of sexual assault told police that the incident occurred at a popular sushi joint in Los Angeles. TMZ have updated their story today (November 1, 2012), with the news that the woman was not an employee of the restaurant but someone that Green had brought to dinner with him.
Cee Lo has denied the claims, stating that he has not been at the restaurant for three months, though that’s not necessarily his strongest form of defence, as the alleged victim has told police that the assault happened a few months ago. Victims of sexual assault do not always report the crimes straight away; the LAPD will still have investigations to carry out into the allegations. It is understood that the staff at the restaurant have been interviewed in relation to the alleged assault, which initially led to suspicions that it may have been a staff member that had been assaulted.
Yesterday, TMZ quoted a close acquaintance of Cee Lo’s protesting The Voice judge’s innocence, by saying “I have never seen Cee Lo act in a physical way toward anybody.” However, this isn’t the first time that Green has been in trouble with the law regarding his behavior towards women. In 2001, he allegedly threatened his then-wife and smashed the windows of their Jaguar during an argument.
