Cameron Diaz will refuse to appear in a remake of The Sound Of Music if it ever comes to fruition - because she'd find it too daunting to take on the lead iconic role.
Dame Julie Andrews named the Charlie's Angels actress as her top choice to play Maria Von Trapp, the role she made famous in the 1965 movie.
But Diaz, who has worked with Andrews on two Shrek films, insists she couldn't possibly pick up the part - because she could "never follow an act like that".
The 36 year old is so in awe of the Academy Award-winning actress she wouldn't even consider the film if she was approached.
She says, "I don't know if I would do it because that is one of those awe-striking moments. Julie is amazing and I don't know if I could follow an act like that. I worked with her on Shrek. I got to spend some time with her during the press tour and she is just the epitome of grace and elegance so I'm very flattered that she even said that."
