Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has urged producers of the next Superman movie to cast him as villainous Lex Luthor.

The hunt is on to find an actor to play the superhero's arch-enemy in the follow-up to this year's (13) blockbuster Man of Steel, and Cranston is adamant movie bosses should pick him.

He tells Metro.us, "Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man."

Cranston insists he is already well prepared to play the hairless villain as he has been shaving his head for several years for his role as cancer-stricken teacher-turned-drug dealer Walter White in Breaking Bad, but admits his wife won't be pleased if he takes on another bald role.

He adds, "She wasn't so keen on the bald head. The bald head ages a man. It's just that she didn't know me that way, and the last six years it's all of a sudden like sleeping with a stranger - who was less exciting than her own husband. So I don't blame her for being upset."

Luthor has previously been played on the big screen by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey.

The Man of Steel sequel is expected to hit cinemas in 2015.
