Britney Spears' sons ''relate'' to her boyfriend.

The 'Toxic' hitmaker has been dating producer Charlie Ebersol for six months and he has already forged a strong bond with her two children, Sean Preston, nine, and Jayden, eight, who she has with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

She said: ''They relate to him really well and they have fun together.

''He's refreshing to be around and really light-hearted.''

The 33-year-old singer's career is thriving, but her children will always come first and sticking to a routine that includes play dates, soccer and gymnastics lessons and up to three hours of homework a night is always her priority.

She said: ''My kids come first in my life, bottom line.

''Homework is a priority. We have a reward system that helps motivate them: if they get so many As, they get one toy a month.''

As the boys are getting older, they have begun helping in the home with chores including taking out the trash and helping with the family dogs, so Britney is considering giving them an allowance, though it may not be as much as they are hoping for.

She told the new issue of People magazine: ''Preston just asked for a high allowance - like $10 a week or $20 a week - but we'll see!''

Though Preston and Jayden are close in age, their mother says their personalities are very different.

She explained: ''Preston is very opinionated, very expressive, and if he doesn't like something, he's going to tell you.

''But he has a huge heart, he's a good kid and he has manners ... Jayden is sweet, very soft-spoken, kinda funny. He's adorable -- a momma's boy.''

With a settled home life and a successful career, the 'Piece of Me' hitmaker has never been happier.

She said: ''I'm the happiest I've ever been.

''I'm in a real good place. I'm very blessed.''
