Britney Spears reportedly split from beau Charlie Ebersol because she was ''demanding'' him to settle down and he felt ''trapped''.

The couple - who had been dating for eight months - have called it a day because Britney has been trying to persuade the television producer to marry her, according to a source.

The source told RadarOnline: ''Britney had been pressuring Charlie for the last several months about getting married. She is at a point where she wants to have another child, and very much wants to be married again. ''Charlie had been very honest about not being ready to get married.''

While another source revealed: ''Britney has a lot of issues, and it's a lot for a young single bachelor to take on. The fact that Britney is still under a conservatorship is obviously very telling. She can't manage her own affairs. Charlie didn't want to become a father figure in her life. She was demanding it and made him feel trapped.''

The shock breakup comes as the superstar recently said she is ''very blessed'' to be in her relationship.

She previously said: ''I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm in a real good place. I'm very blessed.''
