As the reviews begin to come in for his new film Silver Linings Playbook, Bradley Cooper has been chatting to the press about his character in it. Cooper plays Pat Solatino Jr, a hyper, aggressively physical and obsessive man who’s lost his job, home and wife. For a man who made his name as one of the happy-go-lucky main characters in hit comedy trilogy The Hangover, it was quite a different role to play, and the actor revealed to the Boston Herald that he was “a little nervous” about taking it on.
“I didn’t know if I could fill Pat Solitano’s shoes” Cooper said, adding “I had to have faith in O’Russell” in reference to the film’s writer and director David O. Russell. Cooper went on to credit O. Russell for the success that he feels the film’s turned out to be, stating that the director worked hard on “making it very real and at the same time dynamic. For an actor, that’s heaven. The faith he had in me gave me over to his process.”
Cooper is currently filming the third part of The Hangover, but he said that would really be it for the franchise: “Todd’s always talked about it as, ‘Let’s close it up and make it a trilogy,’ and this movie closes the chapter” he commented on its director Todd Phillips plans to end it.
