Bradley Cooper will not play INDIANA JONES - but Harrison Ford could, again.
On Wednesday (March 26, 2014) a new report on the Latino Review suggested Disney was ready to go ahead with a new INDIANA JONES movie. Not too much of a surprise you may have thought, and you'd be right, a fifth Indie movie has been rumored for a couple of years. Only, this report suggested the studio was ready to replace Harrison Ford with Bradley Cooper.
Bradley Cooper Is NOT playing Indiana Jones
The story also suggested Frank Darabont - who apparently wrote a far better script for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull than the one produced - had pitched a new idea for a new movie.
Given the Latino Review's accuracy rate with its scoops - especially Bradley Cooper casting news - Indiana Jones fans were already getting set for a new movie, with a much younger lead. But it's not true.
Slash Film have contacted a high placing source who claims the story is NOT true. Producer Frank Marshall also appeared to allude to the rumors on Twitter, saying, "Due to the ridiculous rumors that keep popping up, like agents pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news."
Frank Darabont also denied the story, telling AICN:
"This is an internet rumor with not a shred of truth in it. I have not pitched an idea for a proposed Indiana Jones movie, nor has anybody approached me with such an idea. The inaccurate report on Latino Review was the first I'd heard of it."
Harrison Ford Could Be Back in the Saddle for 'Indiana Jones 5'
Whether this means that a fifth Indiana Jones movie will go ahead with Harrison Ford, or that the franchise is continuing with a different actor, but not Bradley Cooper, remains to be seen.
The last movie, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, made a fortune at the box-office and was critically well-received. Disney - which bought Lucas Film for $4.05 billion - nailed down the rights for further Indiana Jones movie at the back end of last year.
Though Star Wars Episode VII is clearly the studio's priority at the moment, it's probably not going to be too long before we hear something on Indiana Jones 5. Our bet is that Ford will get back in the saddle.
