Brad Pitt has opened up about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston in a new interview, revealing the union was doomed to fail because he spent much of it trying to pretend it was "something that it wasn't".
In a candid interview with U.S. weekend publication Parade, the movie hunk admits he wasn't good husband material when he exchanged vows with the former Friends star in 2000.
He explains, "I spent the 90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic.
"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."
The marriage ended in divorce in 2005 and Pitt has since found love with Angelina Jolie. The couple has six kids.
