Brad Pitt has reacted with typical good humor to criticism of his recent commercials for Chanel's No.5 fragrance. The moody looking black-and-white ads have been spoofed numerous times on U.S. television, with more fervent critics calling the whole thing a disaster.
Pitt - who is the first male star to promote the women's fragrance - has been shooting World War Z all summer, so missed the initial backlash. However, he doesn't seem too bothered anyway, telling Access Hollywood, "I've been overseas, so I've been blissfully protected.I haven't [seen the parodies], but I say absolutely fair play, fair play." Pitt seems a pretty intelligent guy - he probably knows the ads are a little pretentious, though he's also well aware he got paid around $8 million for a day's work, meaning people are entitled to take pot shots. For what it's worth, the Hollywood star said he "kind of liked" the finish adverts and that he respects what Chanel do, "They do some really quality things," he explained.
Pitt returns to cinemas this week with Killing Them Softly, the crime-drama about an enforcer who is called in to restore order after three clueless criminals rob a high-stakes poker game. He's also signed on for Steve McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave, and, of course, World War Z.
