Brad Pitt has finally joined the 21st century - he's signed up for an account on China's most popular social networking website.

The Hollywood superstar has so far refrained from joining micro-blogging sites, but he made an appearance online on Monday (07Jan13) as he sent out his first message on the Chinese version of Twitter.com, Sina Weibo.

The cryptic post, written in Mandarin, simply reads, "It is the truth. Yup, I'm coming..."

Pitt's mysterious message has already won him more than 160,000 followers, but it is not clear whether the actor is actually planning a trip to China in 2013.

The hunk was banned from entering the Communist country after starring in 1997 film Seven Years in Tibet, in which he played tutor to the young Dalai Lama. The movie portrayed China's rule over the Tibetan people in a less-than-flattering light.

Reports suggest Pitt's addition to Weibo.com could be part of the marketing plan for women's perfume Chanel No. 5, for which he is a spokesmodel.
