Don't worry, that's just the sound of Hollywood, Oxfordshire
One minute you’re riding your bike to the local shop, waving to Mrs Fathersham on the way and striking up an increasingly riveting conversation as you pay for your subscription of Carp Monthly, the next, Brad Pitt is blowing up Nazis in the next field.
Brad Pitt looking very different in 12 Years a Slave
The residents of the Oxfordshire villages near Pitt’s new movie – a World War II tank epic called Fury - will be privy to some of these delightful sounds over the next few weeks as the film is being shot.
A spokesman for the film said: "We wanted to warn people in advance so that they are not alarmed — but also, we don't want people ringing the emergency services!" (BBC)
It’s been a funny old time for Pitt, shooting Fury. He’s had to shave off those golden – but greying – locks so he looks the G.I part; he’s had to warn residents that his World Was II epic could be loud and he’s come across a 91-year-old veteran who simply had no idea who he was.
“Mr Pitt was very friendly and charming actually but I didn’t know who he was. I said to him ‘Until last night I didn’t have a clue who you were and then I googled you and you’ve been in quite a lot of films,” said Mr Comfort, who is consulting on the movie. “They all rolled about laughing when I said that. I don’t do modern films. I am a fan of actors like Alec Guinness, but of course he is dead now.” (The Mirror)
He had no problem being recognised when he ended up at the same hotel where a wedding reception was taking place last month though, where he unwittingly became the guest of honour.
Fury is expected to be released in November 2014.
