Boy George says there should be a periodic ''cull'' of pop stars to give new acts a chance.
Boy George says there should be a periodic ''cull'' of pop stars.
The Culture Club singer believed there are ''too many'' people making music so artists who are not doing so well should be told to find new careers in order to clear the way for new talent.
George explained: ''There are probably too many people making records. I feel like they should have like a cull every so often to let you throw out clothes like 'it's just not working. Go and do something else.''
While he thinks there are too many pop stars, the 53-year-old singer has praised 'The X Factor' as a ''brilliant'' show - even if he does find the talent search show ''funny''.
He added to BANG Showbiz: ''I mean it's just brilliant, even the American version is really good, I just think it's the funniest thing. I don't really like those sort of reality shows much but who ever came up with that is so clever.''
The 'Karma Chameleon' hitmaker has previously hinted he was asked to be a judge on the show.
When asked if he'd like to be a judge on the series, the 53-year-old singer replied: ''How do you know that I already haven't been asked?''
He added: ''No I'm not telling you. I mean at the moment I'm a bit too busy for that but we'll see, if it's still going. Maybe I'll do it on another type of TV show but I do find 'The X Factor' entertaining.''
