Beyonce and Maroon 5 have been announced as performers at the MTV Video Music Awards at the end of this month. Whilst Beyonce is no stranger to the ceremony, this is the first time Maroon 5 will hit the stage.

Beyonce will also be receiving a lifetime achievement award for her career, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which puts her in the ranks of other megastars including Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Madonna, as well as The King of Pop himself.

Maroon 5, fronted by Adam Levine, will take to the stage to perform a track from their forthcoming album, V, possibly new single 'Maps'. In a statement Levine said "We are so excited about our upcoming new album and to be part of the great VMA lineup this year. It is our first time doing the show and we are thrilled to be on it performing our new single."

Levine has been in the news recently after tying the knot with his beautiful model girlfriend, Behati Prinsloo, in Mexico. Jonah Hill officiated and apparently delivered a hilarious speech at the wedding we wish we'd all be invited to.

The VMAs ceremony is shaping up to be unmissable, with Beyonce and Maroon 5 joining the already impressive line-up of performers including Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer and Ariana Grande.

The ceremony takes place on August 24th in California.
