Beyonce has confirmed reports suggesting she will be performing at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2013.
As rumours of the big half-time gig circulated online on Tuesday (16Oct12), the pop superstar used her website to confirm the news, appearing in a picture with the date of the show written on her cheeks and acknowledging the speculation with the line "countdown to touchdown".
Super Bowl organisers also posted the photo news on their official Twitter account, writing: "Beyonce will perform @pepsi #Sb47 Halftime Show in New Orleans. February 3 2013."
The Single Ladies singer last performed at the 2004 Super Bowl when she belted out the American National Anthem before the New England Patriots' victory over the Carolina Panthers in her native Houston, Texas.
That Super Bowl hit the headlines for non-sporting reasons when half-time performer Janet Jackson suffered a wardrobe malfunction and exposed a breast during her show.
Beyonce will follow Madonna onto the Super Bowl stage - the pop superstar performed the half-time show at this year's (12) sporting spectacle, where she was joined by Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and LMFAO.
