So long as the quality remains high, Benedict Cumberbatch sees no reason that 'Sherlock' cannot run and run.
Benedict Cumberbatch says he is open to the possibility of more outings as Sherlock, so long as the writers "keep the quality up." Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will return for a new season of Sherlock in 2016, after a one-off special set to air in 2015.

"If we can keep the quality up," Cumberbatch told Vogue about the series, "I can't imagine that I will ever get tired of being Sherlock. I'd love to play him as an old man."
"A special, plus a new series of three episodes-it's a record-breaking run! Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you'd expect..." co-creator Moffat said in a statement when the new episodes were announced earlier this year.

The BBC has released numerous teasers of the 2015 special, releasing an image showing Sherlock and Watson in formal wear (with moustaches), suggesting there may be some sort of time travel involved in the new season.
Sherlock, with Benedict Cumberbatch at the helm, has been a huge hit for the BBC
As well Sherlock, Cumberbatch - as one of the most in-demand actors on the planet - has numerous movies projects in production. He recently signed on to star opposite Johnny Depp in Black Mass and is rumored to be joining the Marvel universe as Dr. Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange.
The British actor will almost certainly receive his first Oscar nomination this year for his performance as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game. It is likely that he will go up against Michael Keaton, Steve Carell and his close friend Eddie Redmayne in the category of Best Actor come February.
