While appearing on 'Real Time with Bill Maher' last month, the Hollywood star became angered when the host said Islam is "the only religion that acts like the mafia."
It is no secret that Ben Affleck is another Hollywood star who is very interested in the world of politics, and isn't afraid to speak his mind. And this was on full display in October when the talented actor engaged in a heated debate over Islam with Bill Mayer.
Affleck got agitated after he though Maher was unfairly insulting the religion of Islam
While appearing on an episode of 'Real Time with Bill Maher' Affleck took great offense when the talk show host said Islam is "the only religion that acts like the mafia, that will f--king kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book."
The 'Argo' director quickly branded Maher's ideas as "gross, racist, and disgusting."

Over a month has passed since their on-air argument, and prior to receiving his award at Wednesday's (Nov 19th) Save the Children Illumination Gala, Affleck recalled why he was so motivated to question Maher.
"I was ultimately making a 'Sesame Street' argument. You don't judge a whole group of people based on the actions of a few," he told the Associated Press.
Although the segment grabbed a lot of headlines and media coverage at the time, Affleck is definitely not afraid to speak his opinion on very serious, global issues.
"That's the environment around my dinner table when we talk politics," he said. "I think I'd rather tell the truth and say what I believe in and make people unhappy than sort of pretend to think something else to accommodate them and try to be liked. That's just the way it goes and I don't think I'm any great champion of anything, but if they're going to put me on a show, I'm going to say what I think."
