The Obama bear hug was probably the highlight of Scott Van Nuzer’s life, but the pizza shop owner from Fort Pierce may be losing out on precious business because of his political leanings. Mr Nuzer was photographed lifting President Barack Obama above his head after he made a surprise appearance at the ‘Big Apple Pizza’ store over the weekend.
After the bear hug made national news, the pizza store’s reputation on Yelp.com began to suffer with users beginning to award just 1 out of 5 stars. Mike. A. Murrietta from California said, “Well…I'd eat there but after seeing the owner grab our leftist President I felt compelled to disrespect his establishment as much as the President disrespects our constitution. Shame on you Scott Van Duzer for thumbing your nose at all the small business owners this President has disrespected for the last four years.” Another user mused, “Talk about committing business suicide. After picking up Obama, your books are gonna be in the red pretty soon. Not too smart.” However, it wasn’t all bad for Mr Nuzer and his pizza joint, with Ann S. Phoenix awarding five stars, “Simply to balance out the idiots, like Mike A., who are reviewing a place because the owner was able to not hate someone that they did.”
We’re predicting plenty more of these types of stories as both Obama and his rival Mitt Romney head into their Presidential election campaigns. President Obama is still the odds-on favourite to remain in office, though the polls suggest it could be one of the tightest elections for years.
