Rapper Azealia Banks has blasted Lady GaGa for copying her ''mermaid'' style after the 'Applause' hitmaker wore a seashell-focused outfit to the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (25.08.13).

The rapper newcomer has blasted the 'Applause' singer following her outfit choice at the MTV Video Music Awards which featured a bra made from seashells and matching shell-adorned thong, claiming it is ripping off her ''mermaid'' image.
Gaga originally tweeted last night (27.08.13): ''I will be providing a list of acceptable attire for #SwineFest throughout the week. Item 1: Seashells. Item 2: Seahorses. 3: Starfish.''
Azealia responded: ''''hmmmm sounds a lot like Azealia Banks' mermaid balls ... Of COURSE gaga wants to play mermaid again ... Pffft. (sic)''
The outspoken star - who insisted she wasn't looking for ''a fight'' - continued her critique, claiming the outfit sounded ''familiar''.
She wrote: ''Not picking a fight. Just all looks soo familiar ... To me ... It's just ... Late.''
While Azealia was left less than impressed, Gaga has a supporter in One Direction heart throb Liam Payne who took to his Twitter account to thank her for encouraging the group after they were booed at the awards ceremony in New York City on Sunday (25.08.13).
He tweeted: ''Morning everyone what a night yesterday was would like to thank @ladygaga for her support yesterday and her extraordinary outfits.''
