We can’t help but wonder if the smattering of negative reviews have aided this decision, but the Ashton Kutcher-starring Steve Jobs biopic jOBS has been pushed back from its April 19th release date indefinitely. So as good as scrapped then.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Road Films has pushed back the film from its initial date, which tied in with the 37th anniversary of the Apple Computer. According to sources, more time was wanted more time to market the film, which was fully financed and produced by Mark Hulme's Five Star Feature Films. However, the biopic, directed by Joshua Michael Stern and written by Matthew Whitely, made its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival and received some less than favorable reviews.

Ashton Kutcher

Will Ashton Kutcher ever be seen as Steve Jobs?

“Avoids outright hagiography, but more or less embodies the sort of bland, go-with-the-flow creative thinking Jobs himself would have scorned” mocked Variety. The UK’s Guardian added “This is far from the bomb some would have envisaged, but neither is it the character illumination one would wish for” and The Daily Telegraph commented “The poverty of [Kutcher's] skills as a serious actor is on full display.” With those comments ringing in the ears of the film’s bosses, we wonder if the movie will ever see the light of day, especially with Aaron Sorkin’s biopic on the same man also coming out soon.
